The Monroe County Community School Corp.’s search for a new superintendent is coming to a close, with the school board’s selection to be announced sometime in January.
Ron Barnes is founder and partner at BWP & Associates, the search firm hired by the school corporation. BWP & Associates presented the school board with six candidates, three of whom were selected for further interviews.
Barnes said the board is currently finalizing the contract for the finalist they chose, who will replace longtime superintendent Dr. Judy DeMuth.

“Once that’s done, there’s a statutory requirement in Indiana for the contract, or the provisions of the contract, to be public, and there has to be notice of a hearing," Barnes said.
Barnes says after that hearing, the school board can take official action.
While Barnes was unable to provide any information about the final candidate, he said the superintendent-elect's transition will begin immediately after the public hearing and the new superintendent will take office on July 1, 2021.
