Bloomington police are investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered Thursday morning at Seminary Park near downtown Bloomington.
According to a news release, a passerby reported that several people at the park had asked them to call 911, because they believed a man lying on the ground in the park was deceased. Officers and EMS personnel responded for a welfare check at approximately 11:40 a.m. Resuscitation efforts on the 51-year-old man were unsuccessful.
Officials had checked on the welfare of the man during the evening hours Wednesday and twice Thursday morning, but the man was sleeping and refused assistance, according to the release. Several individuals at the park told investigators they had spoken with the man Thursday morning and that he seemed fine.
The release said several people had offered the man a place to stay overnight, but he refused and slept in the park.
Police said there were no signs of foul play or injuries to the man. His identity is not being released until his next of kin is notified.
