According to the National Weather Service, there is a 57% chance that central Indiana will see a white Christmas.
The NWS' definition of a white Christmas means that there is either a trace of snow already on the ground or a trace of snow falling.
Records going back to 1871 for snowfall in Indianapolis show trace snowfall on Christmas Day 67 times, while there has been trace accumulated snow 59 times in the last 122 years.
The odds in Bloomington, however, are a bit lower.
Since 1895, only 3% of Christmases in Bloomington have seen trace accumulated snow, while 21% have seen trace snowfall.
And with a chilly but mostly clear forecast for the next few days, it doesn't look like Bloomington will see much more than flurries on Dec. 25.
