Public health officials in Indiana reported 70 more COVID-19 deaths on Friday and Saturday as well as 9,459 more confirmed cases over both days.
The Indiana State Department of Health said nearly half a million people in Indiana have been infected with the coronavirus and 7,461 have died since the pandemic began.
Another 340 people are believed to have died from COVID-19 based on clinical diagnoses but for whom there’s no positive test on record.
Over 5.5 million COVID-19 tests have been administered in Indiana since late February. That includes people who have had repeat tests.

In Monroe County, the total COVID-19 case number rose by 48 to 7,786 on Saturday, and the county death toll remained the same at 88, the health department reported.
Some 70,786 Monroe County residents have been tested, the department reported Saturday.
And as of Saturday, 2,808 patients were hospitalized with the virus.
About 29.8% of the state's 2,133 existing ICU beds were being used by patients with COVID-19-related illnesses, while 26.7% were still available.
And as of noon Saturday, 12.6% of the state's 2,812 total ventilators were being used by COVID-19 patients, while 70.7% were still available.
