Two city employees reported positive COVID-19 test results in the past 24 hours - one in City Hall and one with the Bloomington Police Department, according to a press release Wednesday.
The press release said the city hall employee started experiencing symptoms Monday and self-isolated. Cleaning protocols in their work place and in shared office areas have been completed.
The city reports the BPD employee is asymptomatic and is also isolating. Cleaning protocols in work space areas and vehicles have been initiated.
According to the release, no close contacts were identified among co-workers or the general public in either case.
Close contact is defined by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as someone who was within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from two days before illness onset--or, for asymptomatic clients, two days prior to positive specimen collection--until the time the patient is isolated.
Since the start of the pandemic, 54 city workers have reported positive COVID-19 test results.
