Two more City of Bloomington employees tested positive for COVID-19, according to a Thursday press release from the mayor’s office.
A Bloomington Police Department employee who works in emergency dispatch received a positive result on Jan. 8, and a Public Works employee received a positive result Jan. 12.
These new cases bring the city employee total to 58.

No close contacts were identified among co-workers, according to the press release. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines a close contact as someone within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting two days before symptoms appear.
The Indiana Department of Health reported Thursday 72 new cases and two new deaths in Monroe County, increasing the county totals to 8,933 cases and 105 deaths.
