BPD Arrest Fatal Hit-and-Run Suspect

Bloomington Police Department officers have arrested a man who they say was involved in a fatal hit and run this weekend.

In a statement the City of Bloomington Police Department said Joshua J. Mullins, 42, of Dekalb, Ill. fled from an accident the night of Jan. 16. The collision, which occurred at the intersection of W 17 th St. and N Kinser Pike, severely injured an 18-year-old man from Poland, Indiana who eventually died at IU Heath Bloomington Hospital.

The name of the victim has not been released.

According to the statement, police received a tip at 1 p.m. on Jan. 17 that Mullins may be at Wheeler Mission Center for Men. BPD found him there, and upon questioning, charged him Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death — a level four felony.

Mullins is being held at the Monroe County Jail.
