Most of Indiana’s COVID-19 numbers have steadily decreased since the start of the new year.
The Indiana Department of Health reported Monday COVID-19 averages and positivity rates continue to decrease. Indiana recorded a seven-day positivity rate of 12.5% — the state’s lowest rate since early November. Indiana’s average of daily cases has decreased every day since Jan. 10, and the average number of daily deaths has decreased since Jan. 2.
COVID-19 hospitalizations did see a slight 40-bed jump to 2,386, but it’s still one of the lowest censuses recorded since Nov. 9.
On Monday, the IDOH documented 2,548 new positive cases and 30 new deaths, increasing state totals to 592,709 cases and 8,966 deaths. Indiana has administered more than 6.4 million tests on more than 2.8 million Hoosiers.

In Monroe County, the IDOH reported 32 new cases, increasing the county total to 9,109. The death toll remained at 108. Monroe County remains one of Indiana’s 19 counties that does not qualify for the red metric, the most serious indication of COVID outbreak. The county has administered 247,424 tests with a 5.1% seven-day positivity rate.
COVID-19 patients occupy 17.3% of Indiana’s ICU beds, with 56.7% of beds still available.
