Indiana’s seven-day positivity rate hasn’t been this low since late October.
The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) reported Friday a seven-day positivity rate of 10.4%, the lowest rate since Oct. 30. The department documented 3,560 new positive cases and 49 new deaths, increasing state totals to 605,426 cases and 9,267 deaths. Throughout January, Indiana has seen its COVID-19 numbers trend down, but officials cannot pinpoint a reason for the decrease at this time.
COVID-19 hospitalizations also have fallen. The statewide COVID-19 hospital census shows 2,151 Hoosiers currently hospitalized due to the virus. Patients with the virus occupy 22.9% of the state’s ICU beds, while 27.5% of beds remain available.
More than 6.65 million tests have been administered to more than 2.8 million Hoosiers.

In Monroe County, the IDOH reported 40 new cases, increasing the county total to 9,338. The county death toll remained at 110.
Monroe County has administered more than 256,000 tests with a 3.8% seven-day positivity rate. This is the lowest positivity rate in the state.
More than 62% of ICU beds available to Monroe County residents remain open with only 11.4% occupied by COVID-19 patients. Ninety-three residents in the area are hospitalized with the virus.
On Thursday, the City of Bloomington announce four City workers tested positive for COVID-19.
