Indiana’s COVID-19 statistics continue to improve toward nearly three-month lows, according to Indiana Department of Health data.
The IDOH reported Monday 2,210 new positive cases and 12 new deaths, bringing state totals to 613,228 cases and 9,352 deaths. Indiana now averages less than 3,000 cases and 40 deaths a day — similar to numbers recorded in early November. But the state’s COVID-19 decline has been slow. Indiana records nearly four times the number of cases and deaths every day than it did six months ago.
The state has administered more than 6.7 million tests with a 9.6% seven-day positivity rate, which is the lowest rate since Oct. 27.
Indiana has fully vaccinated more than 100,000 Hoosiers.

COVID-19 patients occupy about 21% of state ICU beds with more than 31% still available. The IDOH’s hospital census shows 2,045 Hoosiers are currently hospitalized due to the virus.
In Monroe County, the IDOH reported 35 new cases, increasing the county total to 9,458. The county death toll remained at 113 after Monroe County reported over the weekend three virus-related deaths.
The county has administered more than 260,000 tests on 76,000 residents with a 3.1% seven-day positivity rate — the lowest positivity rate in the state.
More than 58% of ICU beds in Monroe County remain open with 15.2% occupied by COVID-19 patients. Eighty-one residents in the area are hospitalized due to the virus.
