Four new COVID-19 cases have been identified among City workers, according to a press release.
A City Hall employee, a Public Works employee and two utilities employees all received positive results last week. That brings total cases to 66 among City workers.
One utilities employee began experiencing symptoms Jan. 9 but didn’t receive a positive test result until Jan. 22. The other CBU employee began experiencing symptoms on Jan. 26 and received a positive result the next day. The City Hall employee began experiencing symptoms on Jan. 23 and received a positive result on the Jan. 26. The Public Works employee received a positive test on Jan. 25 but experienced no symptoms.

According to the City, no close contacts occurred with the general public but one Public Works employee did have a close contact. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines a close contact as someone within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting two days before symptoms appear.
The Indiana Department of Health reported Thursday 50 new cases in Monroe County, increasing the county total to 9,588 cases. The death toll remained 115.
