Bloomington's mayor has appointed John Zody as the city's next Housing and Neighborhood Development Department (HAND) Director.
A Monday news release says Zody, who is the former chair of the Indiana Democratic Party, will begin as director April 5.
Zody announced in November that he would not seek another term as chair, a position he has held for eight years. He took responsibility for Indiana Democrats' poor showing in the 2020 election.
“I am very happy to welcome John Zody to City government,” Hamilton is quoted as saying in the release. “His deep and strong commitment to our community’s values and his extensive leadership at the local, state and national levels will ably serve to help advance Bloomington’s goals-in-progress for affordable housing and greater quality of life for all.”
Zody will replace longtime city employee Doris Sims, who retired January 29.
