Indiana’s COVID-19 positivity rate fell beneath 6% for the first time since Oct. 6.
The Indiana Department of Health reported Friday a seven-day positivity rate of 5.8%, 1,445 new cases, and 86 new deaths. These numbers increase the state totals to 646,425 cases and 11,690 deaths. Indiana continues to report lower daily cases and deaths, as COVID-19 stats trend downward.
The state also reports fewer tests administered than reported throughout November and December. Indiana has administered more than 7.47 million tests on more than 3 million Hoosiers.
Hospitalizations across the state have fallen to 1,178 — the lowest number in four months. COVID-19 patients occupy about 10% of Indiana ICU beds, with 37% of beds remaining available. Only 4.3% of ventilators are in use by COVID-19 patients.
More than 779,200 Hoosiers have received their first dose of the vaccine, and 300,742 residents have been fully vaccinated.

In Monroe County, the IDOH reported 19 new cases of COVID-19, increasing the county total to 10,055 cases. The death toll remained at 155.
Forty-two residents in the area are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, and patients with the virus occupy 6.7% of ICU beds. More than 72% of beds in the area remain available.
Monroe County has administered more than 302,200 tests, with a 1.8% seven-day positivity rate.
More than 15,000 county residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 7,107 have received both doses.
