Indiana University's current Executive Vice President for University Academic Affairs, John Applegate, will serve as the school's interim executive vice president and IU Bloomington provost, according to an email from IU President Michael McRobbie.
Applegate will replace outgoing Executive VP & IU Bloomington Provost Lauren Robel, who announced in March her intent to step away from the role starting June 30. Applegate will remain in the role until IU's new president appoints a successor following McRobbie's retirement, also effective June 30.
Applegate has been with IU for more than 20 years and is also the James L. Calamaras Professor of Law in the Maurer School of Law.
McRobbie also shared that IU Kokomo Chancellor Sue Sciame-Giesecke will temporarily fill Applegate's vacant position.
