While much of the state will be included in Gov. Eric Holcomb's decision to lift the mask mandate effective Tuesday, many counties have imposed their own restrictions aimed at keeping COVID-19 numbers low.
Monroe County health officials announced in late March that they would continue to enforce a mask mandate, gathering size restrictions, and restaurant and bar regulations in a departure from statewide guidance.
The latest order from the Monroe County Health Department limits private gatherings to 50 people unless approved for an exemption. Local restaurants are still prohibited from operating bar-top service and bars and nightclubs must close by 2:00 a.m.
While the state is no longer mandating face masks in public locations, businesses or restaurants, masks are still required in government buildings and facilities, K-12 schools, COVID-19 testing and vaccination sites and outside on public property where six-foot social distancing cannot be maintained.
