The Monroe County Community School Corporation will swear in its newest board member at a meeting later this month.

Erin Cooperman has been picked to fill the District 5 seat that was left open after the January death of Keith Klein.

At its meeting in February the board could not agree on a replacement for Klein so the decision was left up to the Monroe Circuit Court.

According to a news release from MCCSC, a judge made the decision to appoint Cooperman.

Cooperman is a lecturer in Indiana University’s School of Public Health. According to the district, Cooperman previously directed the MCCSC AmeriCorps program.

Cooperman will be sworn in at the board’s meeting on April 27.
