Monroe County’s mask mandate and gathering size limits will last until at least May 28.
Public gathering sizes will remain limited to 50 people in the county, while private gatherings within the City of Bloomington will stay at 15 people.

County health administrator Penny Caudill said the recent rise in COVID-19 case numbers prompted the decision.
"We feel that we can see that light at the end of the tunnel if we continue our prevention measures. So, we have a goal date, and I ask everybody to help us meet that goal," said Caudill.
Monroe County’s increase to 137 cases per 100,000 people pushes the local seven-day positivity rate above one percent.
"While our positivity rate is still low, it is still growing," said Caudill. "We hope that we start to see a plateau, but it’s way too early for us say that’s actually happening."
But the number of residents receiving vaccinations is also increasing. Caudill said 22 percent of the local population eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine are now fully vaccinated.
She said the health department’s goal is to see that number reach at least 75 percent before loosening restrictions.
The only local change expected between now and late May is that bars and restaurants can seat patrons in tables next to one another if a protective barrier is installed.
"Businesses that have back-to-back booths seated may use a barrier in place of space, if they are able to do that," said Caudill.
This change stems from a statewide rule to allow establishments more freedom to seat customers.
