Authorities in Greene County are investigating the shooting deaths of three young people near Owensburg, a law enforcement official said Saturday.
Greene Co. Sheriff’s Department chief deputy George Dallaire said the bodies were found Friday just outside of Owensburg.
All three died of gunshot wounds, he said.
Dallaire identified two of the victims as Mason George, 22, and Jessica Bixler, 21. He identified the third person only as a 14-year-old male.
The official said there was no ongoing public safety concern and no active shooter.
Dallaire said his department was still collecting forensic evidence, and that the Indiana State Police were involved but not leading the investigation.
The Greene County coroner did not return calls over the weekend.
“My heart is broken,” Jessica Bixler’s mother Amanda Mosier wrote in a Facebook post Friday.
Mosier said her family appreciated the community’s support but asked for privacy.
Jessica Huber, a friend of the family, has started an online fundraiser.
