Indiana University and the University of Notre Dame will finally meet again on the football field.
It’s just going to be a while. The two schools announced a home-and-home football series for the 2030 and 2031 seasons Monday.
"I'm looking forward to facing one of the most storied programs in the history of college football," Indiana head football coach Tom Allen said in a statement. "It's tremendous for the state of Indiana and for our fans, and it will be a great opportunity for our players."
Notre Dame will host the first game on Aug. 31, 2030, while the Sept. 27, 2031 game will be played in Bloomington.
It will be the first meeting between the schools since a Sept. 7, 1991, game in South Bend, which Notre Dame won, 49-27.
Before that game, the schools hadn’t played since 1958. The last time the teams played in Bloomington was Oct. 21, 1950. Indiana won that game, 20-7.
Notre Dame has a 23-5-1 edge in the series.
