Bloomington Police Break Up 400-Person Party Thursday Night

Bloomington police were called to an apartment on Walnut Street Thursday night and discovered an estimated 400 people having a party, according to Mayor John Hamilton.

Monroe County still has a gathering limit of 50 people. The cap is 15 within city limits.

“There are of course fines that can be imposed under the county health order,” Hamilton said.

Indiana University students caught violating the school’s COVID-19 policies could face suspension or expulsion.

“I just talked to the dean this morning,” Indiana University COVID-19 Response Unit Leader Kirk White said. “He said he was going to be conducting disciplinary hearings this afternoon for some of our students who have not followed the rules.”

An estimated quarter of Monroe County’s population has been fully vaccinated.
