No Charges Filed In Greene County Shooting Deaths

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department will not seek charges in three shooting deaths at a home two weeks ago near Owensburg.

The sheriff’s department says in a news release issued Monday that 14-year-old Cole Bixler killed 22-year-old Mason George and 21-year-old Jessica Bixler before shooting himself.

All three were shot in the head with a gun owned by George, according to the report.

Authorities were called to George’s residence on April 16 by Jessica Bixler’s mother, Amanda Mosier, who had discovered the bodies.

Officers from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police say Cole Bixler shot George while he slept on a couch, then went into a bedroom and shot his cousin, Jessica. He then shot himself.

Authorities say Cole Bixler had spent the night at the residence as a guest of his cousin. The report says police found evidence that Cole Bixler had told others he had been having thoughts of harming himself.
