IU Vaccine Incentive Prizes Totals More Than $70,000

Indiana University announced Thursday that its vaccine incentive program will include gift cards and other prizes totaling more than $70,000.

In exchange for self-reporting proof of having received a COVID-19 vaccine, students, faculty and staff at each IU campus will be entered into weekly drawings during the month of June.

At least two students and one staff member will be selected each Thursday between June 10 and 28 as winners. Student winners can choose from a $500 gift card to IU's campus bookstore, on-campus dining credit, or a parking pass, while faculty and staff winners can select an Apple Watch, AirPods Pro, a JBL speaker, or a Yeti cooler.

Additionally, one student and one faculty/staff member will win a grand prize on July 2. The student will win tuition credit equal to one year of in-state tuition, while the staff winner will be able to choose between season tickets to Indianapolis Colts games or the Indiana Repertory Theatre.

IU announced the incentive program earlier this week, after rolling back its previous requirement that all students and employees provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination by the beginning of the fall semester.
