The city of Bloomington is offering $100 incentives to employees who show a vaccination card.
Mayor John Hamilton says he’s happy with more than half of the city’s 1,000 employees opting in for the cash reward.
“We're very pleased with, because we know you're safer, and our workforces safer and our communities safer when you get vaccinated.”
Hamilton says he’s grateful two of the city’s largest employers, Indiana University and IU Health, are taking steps to require vaccinations.

Hamilton says under state law the city is not allowed to require vaccinations, but the city’s incentive program is contributing to keeping the community safer.
Health officials say Monroe County has a 52 percent vaccination rate with more than 72,300 fully vaccinated individuals.
