IU Health South Central Region Reports 63 COVID-19 Hospitalizations, 54 Are Unvaccinated

IU Health South Central Region Hospitals reported 63 people hospitalized with COVID-19 this week.

The region’s hospitals include IU Health Bedford, IU Health Bloomington, and IU Health Paoli.

Of those hospitalized, 54 were unvaccinated. The region hospitals reported 15 people in the ICU­ – all of whom were unvaccinated. Of those in the ICU­ – 10 are on a ventilator.

The hospital releases these numbers weekly.

 

The number of people hospitalized is down from 70 reported August 30. Sixteen people were in the ICU then, all of whom were also unvaccinated. Nine people were on a ventilator then.

On September 2, IU Health announced a temporary hold on elective surgeries, attributing the decision to surging COVID-19 hospitalizations and cases.
