Community Kitchen of Monroe County is expanding its brick-and-mortar locations to on-the-go meals with a new food truck.
Assistant director, Tim Clougher, wants their services to be accessible to not only those who can walk downtown but in rural areas.
Meals will be made at Community Kitchens' then kept warm or cold in the food truck.
The organization also has a food program where they serve meals to kids only in low-income areas. Clougher says food was served in bagged lunches but can now be served hot.
“Yes know the kids running out and getting bagged lunches from a guy in a van, they’ll be able to go out and get warm food from the food truck, sit nearby, take it home either way and have a meal,” Clougher said.
Meal services are planned to begin in early October starting in Ellettsville.
