City Pausing Recycling Pickup Due To Spike In COVID Cases

City of Bloomington will not be picking up recycling this week due to a spike in COVID-19 cases and close contacts at the sanitation department, the city said in a release Sunday.

The number of workers needed for normal operations at the department dipped below 50 percent after three new cases and six potential exposures were reported last week. It brings the total number of city employees to test positive for the coronavirus to 110 since the start of the pandemic.

The city said it was pausing recycling for at least this week to allow regular trash pickup to continue as usual. When recycling pickup resumes depends on the staffing situation.

The city asks you store recyclables until service resumes or take them to one of the city’s recycling centers listed at www.gogreendistrict.com.

For more information, contact the sanitation department at 812-349-3443.
