The Monroe County Commissioners voted to extend the county mask mandate through the end of October during its Wednesday meeting.

County health administrator Penny Caudill said the extension means the health department will follow up with Seven Oaks Classical School in Ellettsville to ensure its cooperation with the health order.

Caudill cited the charter school for violating the mask mandate in August, and the county commissioners denied its appeal in September. She said it is the only school in the county to receive a citation.

“We will follow up," she said. "Any site visits we do are unannounced, so I won’t give you any kind of a timeline about something like that, but we will follow up.”

Caudill says the health department will follow-up in response to the denied appeal, as well as continue to pay attention to individual complaints against the school.
