Bloomington's recycling service resumes this week after pause caused by COVID-19

The city of Bloomington’s recycling service resumed Monday after pausing last week because of a spike in COVID-19 cases and close contacts in the sanitation department.

The announcement that services would resume came Saturday, and said if customers have extra recyclables that don’t fit in their bin this week, they can set them in another container next to their bin for pick up.

The announcement said recycling put in plastic bags won’t be collected. Last week, four city sanitation workers received positive COVID-19 tests and six workers were identified as close contacts and were required to take time off to quarantine.
