Vaccinated City of Bloomington employees to receive $600 incentive

Mayor Hamilton said this budget is designed to maintain city reserves of at 4 months of operating expenses as the pandemic continues.

Fully vaccinated Bloomington city employees will soon be eligible for a $600 wellness rebate.

Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton said the new incentive is only available to employees covered by the city’s health insurance plan.

“It appears that this benefit, the wellness benefit for next year, is moving numbers a little bit,” Hamilton said. “I’m glad we did it.”

The new program is different from the $100 incentive previously available to all vaccinated city employees regardless of health insurance. Instead of being distributed as one lump sum, a portion of the new incentive will be reflected on each paycheck throughout the year.

“The $600 wellness incentive, just to be precise, is actually paid out per pay period over the 2022 payroll cycle,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton said one city hall employee tested positive for COVID-19 last week, bringing the total number of infections since the pandemic began to 117.
