After a dip in COVID-19 rates earlier in the fall, officials report seeing increases across the state.
Brian Shockney is the president of IU Health South Central Region. He said during a press call on Friday that upticks have been seen locally, and IU health has seen an increase in COVID-19 patients.
“We are unfortunately seeing another increase in our region’s patient numbers since the last time we were together as our numbers have nearly doubled in the last week.”
In Monroe County, nine COVID-19 deaths were confirmed in September, six in October, and 17 in November.
In August, Monroe County recorded an average number of under 30.8 cases per day. In October – and average of 23.8 cases a day.
In November, Monroe County recorded an average number of under 31.1 cases per day.
The first two days of December, the average in Monroe County was 81.
