Indiana University and the Monroe County Health Department are hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall next week.

The clinic will offer the Moderna vaccine to anyone 18 or older. It is open Dec. 13-15 from 3-8 p.m. Appointments are not necessary but still available at www.ourshot.in.gov.

“This went live yesterday to sign up and we already have over 700 appointments made for those three days,” IU assistant vice president for strategic partnerships Kirk White said. “We have the capacity for 3,000.”

White said IU had 105 COVID-19 cases during the first week of December, and numbers are slightly lower this week. In total, 94.7 percent of IU Bloomington students, faculty, and staff are fully vaccinated.

Monroe County health administrator Penny Caudill said people struggling to find a vaccine could look to neighboring counties.

“I would go to Monroe County first but maybe you live in another county and you want to go there. Or you’re visiting there, or it’s just that you work in that county,” she said. “You can go to that county and see what’s available.”

Nearby, the state health department is hosting a mobile clinic at the Brown County fairgrounds from 12-8 p.m. through Saturday.

The drive-up clinic is offering all three vaccines as well as rapid antigen and PCR testing. Appointments are appreciated but not required.
