Governor appoints new Indiana University trustee

Governor Eric Holcomb appointed Cynthia Luchesse of Indianapolis to the Indiana University Board of Trustees Monday.

She will serve the remainder of trustee Melanie Walker’s term following her death in July. The term runs through July 1, 2022.

"I'm honored to serve my alma mater and look forward to working with my fellow trustees to build on IU's long-standing traditions of excellence," Lucchese said in a press release.

Luchesse is a two-time IU graduate, having earned both her bachelor’s in accounting and MBA from the Kelley School of Business. She currently serves as the chief strategy officer for Penske Entertainment. Previously, she worked as CFO for Hillenbrand Inc., and Thoratec Corporation.

"Cindy Lucchese has amassed an impressive career in finance and leadership throughout Indiana," Holcomb said. "I have full confidence that she will bring those same invaluable skills to IU's Board of Trustees and further contribute to the school's prestigious reputation as one of the nation's best academic and research universities.”

The governor appoints six of the nine members of the board of trustees, including one student trustee. The remaining three trustees are elected by alumni. All members, except for the student trustee, typically serve three-year terms.
