Monroe County confirmed 241 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, up from 195 Monday. This brings its total since the pandemic began to 20,408.
One new death was reported, bringing the county’s total to 238.
The county’s positivity rate rose to 21.1 percent, up from 20 percent Monday.
In District 8, hospitalizations increased to 135, up from 124 reported Monday. About 45 percent of the district’s ICU beds are occupied by COVID patients, 48 percent are occupied by non-COVID patients, and 6.3 percent are still available.
Statewide
The state reported 11,932 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, which is up from 10,003 Monday. This brings the state total since the pandemic began to 1,378,562.
Hospitalizations rose from 3,382 Monday to 3,467 Tuesday, which is the highest number since the pandemic began. In total, 38.4 percent of the state’s ICU beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients. About 10 percent of beds are still available.
The state also reported 110 new deaths, bringing its pandemic total to 19,194 since March 2020.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate climbed to 26.9 percent, up from 25.9 percent Monday.
