Monroe County confirmed 200 new COVID-19 cases Monday, bringing the county total since the pandemic began to 22,201. No new deaths were reported.
The county’s positivity rate dropped to 21.1 percent from 21.5 percent Friday.
In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 136 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized. About 48 percent of the ICU beds in the district are occupied by COVID-19 patients, and 13 percent of the beds are still available.
Monroe County remains is in the red advisory level on the state dashboard with 1,081 cases per 100,000 people. This statistic is updated every Wednesday.
Statewide
The state confirmed 9,870 new cases Monday. In total 1,462,456 Hoosiers have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic began, and 19,566 have died.
During the week of Dec. 27, more than 82 percent of COVID-19 cases in Indiana were the Omicron variant, whereas 17 percent were Delta.
The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 29.7 percent, up from 28.7 percent Friday.
Currently, 3,363 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Indiana.
