Monroe County confirmed 116 new COVID-19 cases Monday, down from Friday’s 490 record. The Indiana dashboard said nearly 5,000 statewide cases were delayed until Friday, which could also explain the jump in local cases Friday.

In total, 25,842 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began. No new local deaths were reported.

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Bartholomew, and Brown counties, 131 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, down from 137. Monroe County’s positivity rate is 22.6 percent.

State

The state confirmed 3,947 new cases Monday, down from 17,084 new cases Friday. However, reports of 4,705 cases were delayed and would have been included over the course of last week.

In total, 1,623,439 Hoosiers have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.  Indiana added no new deaths through the weekend. But the total since the pandemic began increased from 20,508 to 20,556.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 29.6 percent. A total of 2,694 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized across the state, down from 2,701.

Testing

Indiana University is holding a mobile vaccination and testing clinic Wednesday to Friday this week. The clinic is being held in partnership with the Indiana Department of Health.

Anyone can use the clinic, which will be available from noon to 8 p.m. at 800 N. Indiana Ave. between 11th and 12th streets. Appointments can be scheduled for vaccines or tests on the IDOH website.
