Daily COVID-19 cases remain steady in Monroe County, one new death reported

Monroe County confirmed 130 new  COVID-19 cases Wednesday, bringing its pandemic total to 26,129.  

One new death was reported, which happened Jan. 31. That brings the total to 250.

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 136 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, down from 141 Tuesday. About 43 percent of ICU beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients and 20 percent of beds are still available.   

The county’s seven-day positivity rate is 21.8 percent, up from 21.4 percent Monday.   

State  

The state confirmed 6,878 new cases, bringing its total to 1,636,011.   

The state also added 113 new deaths, meaning 20,799 Hoosiers have died from COVID-19. Currently, 2,705 people are hospitalized around the state.   

The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 27.3 percent, down from 28.4 percent.   

Where to get a walk-up COVID-19 test in Monroe County  

The Indiana Department of Health announced Tuesday all state-run clinics would close at 5 p.m. Wednesday due to the winter storm. Thursday schedules for sites south of Johnson County will be based on weather conditions. For additional updates, visit the state’s  COVID-19 dashboard.

  • PCR and rapid antigen testing (as well as Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and boosters)
  • Open noon until 8 p.m. through Feb. 5, if weather allows.
