Monroe County COVID-19 cases continue to drop

Monroe County confirmed 21  COVID-19 cases Monday, down from 31 Sunday and 52 Saturday. In total, 26,977 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began. No new deaths were reported.

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, hospitalizations dropped from 99 COVID-19 patients Sunday to 85 patients Monday. About 35 percent of ICU beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients and about 26 percent of beds are still available.   

The county’s seven-day positivity rate is now 18.5 percent.  

State  

The state confirmed 868 new cases Monday, down from 1,195 Sunday. In total, 1,668,404 Hoosiers have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

The state also added seven new deaths over the weekend. In total, 21,335 Hoosiers have died from COVID-19.

Across the state, 1,683 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, down from 1,765 hospitalizations Sunday.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 15.8 percent.
