Monroe County confirmed 52 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, up from 21 Monday. In total, 27,029 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began.
The county also reported two new deaths, which occurred between Feb. 1-12. This brings the county total to 256.
In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, hospitalizations dropped to 76 patients Tuesday, which is down from 85 patients Monday. About 34 percent of ICU beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients and about 20 percent of beds are still available. In total, there are currently 64 ICU beds in the district.
The county’s seven-day positivity rate is now 17.3 percent, down from 18.5 percent Monday.
State
The state confirmed 1,462 new cases Tuesday, up from 868 Monday. In total, 1,669,872 Hoosiers have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
The state also added 64 new deaths, which occurred between Nov. 9- Feb. 14. In total, 21,399 Hoosiers have died from COVID-19.
Across the state, 1,600 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, down from 1,683 Monday.
The state’s seven-day positivity rate is 14.2 percent, down from 15.8 percent Monday.
