Monroe County reported 47 new COVID-19 cases Friday, up from 36 Thursday. These new cases mean 27,182 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began.
The county also reported two new deaths, which occurred between Feb. 12-13. In total, 261 county residents have died from COVID-19.
In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 73 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized. This is down from 82 hospitalizations Thursday.
The county’s seven-day positivity rate is now 13.3 percent, down from 14.5 percent Thursday.

State
The state confirmed 1,501 new cases Friday, up from 1,476 cases Thursday. In total, 1,674,269 Hoosiers have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.
The state also added 99 new deaths, which occurred between Nov. 28-Feb. 17. In total, 21,667 Hoosiers have died from COVID-19.
Across the state, 1,376 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, down from 1,479 hospitalizations Thursday.
The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 12.2 percent, down from 12.8 percent Thursday.
