Monroe County reports 36 new COVID-19 cases, 1 new death

Monroe County confirmed 36 new  COVID-19 cases Thursday, down from 72 Wednesday. In total, 27,135 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began.

The county also reported one new death, which occurred Feb. 8. This raises the county total to 259 deaths.

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 82 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized. This is up slightly from 80 hospitalizations Wednesday.  

The county’s seven-day positivity rate is now 14.5 percent, down from 15.6 percent Wednesday.   

State

The state confirmed 1,476 new cases Thursday, up slightly from 1,447 Wednesday. In total, 1,672,761 Hoosiers have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began. 

The state also added 45 new deaths, which occurred between Nov. 13-Feb. 16. In total, 21,568 Hoosiers have died from COVID-19.

Across the state, 1,479 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, down from 1,526 hospitalizations Wednesday.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 12.8 percent, down from 13.1 percent Wednesday.
