Monroe County, state COVID-19 cases continue to drop as of Monday

Monroe County reported 15 new  COVID-19 cases Monday, the same reported Sunday and nearly half the 29 reported Saturday. In total, 27,238 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began.

No new deaths were reported over the weekend.

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 64 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized. This is down from 67 hospitalizations Sunday and 72 hospitalizations Saturday. 

The county’s seven-day positivity rate is now 10.1 percent, down from 13.3 percent Friday. 

State

The state confirmed 466 new cases Monday, down from 658 Sunday and 1,509 Saturday. In total, 1,676,797 Hoosiers have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began. 

The state reported no new deaths Monday, leaving the total at 21,704.

Across the state, 1,093 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, down from 1,185 Sunday.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 9.7 percent, down from 12.2 percent Friday.
