Monroe County reported nine new COVID-19 cases Wednesday and 12 Tuesday. The new cases were reported to the state between Feb. 21 and March 1. In total, 27,400 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began.
No new deaths were reported. The county’s seven-day positivity rate is now 5 percent, down from 5.9 percent Monday.
In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 37 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, which is the same as Tuesday. Tuesday and Wednesday’s numbers are the lowest since Aug. 1, when there were 34.
State
The state confirmed 452 new COVID-19 cases, which were reported to the IDOH between Nov. 10 and March 1. In total, 1,682,667 Hoosiers have tested positive since the pandemic began.
The state reported 47 additional deaths, bringing the total to 22,037. The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 5.5 percent, down from 6 percent Tuesday. Through mid-January, the seven-day rate was consistently between 28 and 30 percent.
Across Indiana, 751 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized. This is down from 792 hospitalizations Tuesday. Wednesday’s hospital census is the lowest since July 26, when it was at 735.
