Monroe County drops to a yellow advisory level on the state COVID-19 map with only 35 cases per 100,000 people. The county’s two-week metric score is now in the lower blue level.
However, these metrics are supposed to disappear from the state’s dashboard.
“The metrics map and advisory levels will be removed as those are no longer being used to measure transmission,” county health administrator Penny Caudill said. “The state dashboard will in turn direct people to the CDC data tracker for community levels."
She said local health partners will continue to meet since CDC data lag a few weeks.
Monroe County reported 10 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, raising its total to 27,472 since the pandemic began. Two new deaths were reported, raising the county total to 269.
The county’s seven-day positivity rate is now 2.9 percent.
In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, hospitalizations dropped from 26 COVID-19 patients Tuesday to 22 patients Wednesday.
State
The state confirmed 437 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday. In total, 1,685,997 Hoosiers have tested positive since the pandemic began.
The state also reported 77 new deaths. These additions push the state to 22,215 total deaths.
The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 3.4 percent.
Across Indiana, 559 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, which is down from 608 hospitalizations Tuesday.
