Monroe County reports 11 new COVID-19 cases

Monroe County reported 11 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, up from 10 on Wednesday. In total, 27,481 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began. 

Two new deaths were reported, raising the county total to 271. These deaths occurred between Feb. 21-March 8.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate remained steady at 2.9 percent. 

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, hospitalizations dropped from 22 patients Wednesday to 17 COVID-19 patients Thursday.

State

The state confirmed 391 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, down from 437 on Wednesday. In total, 1,686,379 Hoosiers have tested positive since the pandemic began. 

The state also reported 10 new deaths, which occurred between Feb. 9-March 9. These additions push the state to 22,225 total deaths.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 3.1 percent, down from 3.4 percent Wednesday.

Across Indiana, 505 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, down from 559 on Wednesday.
