Monroe County dropped to a blue advisory level on the state’s COVID-19 dashboard with 26 cases per 100,000 people.
However, county health administrator Penny Caudill said COVID-19 is still circulating, albeit in lower numbers than previous weeks.
“If you have health concerns, you’re not up to date on your vaccination, or you are just concerned about the virus, then wearing a mask makes a lot of sense,” she said.
The county added eight new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, up from seven Tuesday. In total, 27,519 county residents have tested positive since the pandemic began.
One new death, which occurred on March 10, was reported. In total, 272 county residents have died from COVID-19. The county’s seven-day positivity rate is now 2.1, down from 2.6 percent Tuesday.
In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, hospitalizations dropped from 17 COVID-19 patients Tuesday to 16 Wednesday.
Indiana
The state confirmed 303 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, up from 261 Tuesday. In total, 1,687,920 Hoosiers have tested positive since the pandemic began.
The state reported 37 new deaths, which occurred between Feb. 3 and March 15. In total, 22,322 Hoosiers have died from COVID-19.
The state’s seven-day positivity rate is now 2.7 percent, down from 2.8 percent Tuesday.
Across Indiana, hospitalizations dropped to 442 COVID-19 patients Wednesday. This is down from 446 Monday.
