A search is underway at Lake Monroe for a man who went missing Thursday night.

According to the Department of Natural Resources Division of Law Enforcement, officers responded to the lake at 5:24 p.m. Thursday for a report of two people struggling in the water.

The DNR says a nearby boater rescued one of the people before they arrived. However, the second person, 64-year-old Dwight Fry was still missing in the water.

In a statement the DNR said, “Initial investigation revealed that before going missing in the water, Fry was attempting to help his wife, who began struggling in the water.”

Responders used sonar, boats and divers last night to try to locate the man. They had to suspend the search when it got dark.

Lt. Angela Goldman with the DNR Law Enforcement said the search resumed for Fry this morning. Goldman said they continue to search in the area just south of Hardin Ridge.
