City of Bloomington reports 10 employee COVID-19 cases

The City of Bloomington reported 10 COVID-19 cases among its employees this week.

The employees come from the following units: 

  • City of Bloomington Utilities- three employees
  • Parks and Recreation - two employees
  • City Hall - one employee
  • Bloomington Fire Department- one employee
  • Bloomington Transit - one employee
  • Bloomington Police Department - one employee
  • Bloomington Housing Authority- one employee

The city reported that one of the parks employees exposed close contacts, who have since been notified. None of the workers had close contact with a member of the public. 

Since the start of the pandemic, 362 Bloomington employees have tested positive for COVID-19. COVID was listed among the causes of death for one city employee. 

The City of Bloomington is continuing its wastewater sampling program, with the results being used to indicate COVID spread. In a press release, the city said, " As of July 11, the most recent date for which data is available, sample concentrations were 1400 gene copies/100mL at the Dillman plant and 270 gene copies/100mL at the Blucher Poole plant.”
