IU students return Sunday to similar move-in strategies, closer to pre-pandemic

The more than 7,500 IU students moving into residence halls starting Sunday will go through a check-in at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

In the next week, an additional 3,000 students will move into Greek and student organizational housing, according to IU communications.

Friends and family accompanying students will be required to wait outside.

Move-in will be more like the years preceding the pandemic, with fewer COVID-19 safeguards in place. There will be no arrival COVID-19 testing.

All non-exempt students and staff are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19, and report it to the university.

Compared to the last two years:

In 2020 both students on and off campus were required to get tested for COVID-19 before classes started. The university hosted mandatory drive-thru testing at the Memorial Stadium the day students moved in as well.

Two years ago, the residential move-in timeline was extended to two weeks, compared to about a week allotted this year.

Masks on-campus are optional now, but were required at the start of last year.

Last year, centralized check-in was at the Memorial Stadium, with a COVID-19 check at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
