Indiana State Police is assisting the  Federal Aviation Authority in the investigation of a crash of a single-engine plane that claimed one life Saturday night at the French Lick Airport.

According to a state police press release, Orange County Dispatch received a call at around 9:09 p.m. Saturday reporting a small plane had crashed at the airport. First responders on the scene found the plane on fire. The plane’s unidentified occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.

The release said the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board have been contacted and the crash scene will be turned over to them upon their arrival.
