IU professor found dead in Fee Lane parking garage

Indiana University professor Timothy Baldwin was found dead early this morning on the south side of the Fee Lane parking garage, according to a release from the IU Police Department.

IUPD responded to a call shortly before 6 a.m. about a report of a body in the parking garage. According to the report, foul play is not suspected.

Baldwin, 64, was the Randall L. Tobias Chair in Leadership in the Management and Entrepreneurship Department of the IU Kelley School of Business. He was also the faculty liaison for the Executive Degree Program at the school.

“The Indiana University community is saddened by the death of a longtime and well-known Kelley School of Business faculty member,” IU spokesman Chuck Carney said. “Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the many students he impacted. As we grieve this loss as a community, we are providing our students, faculty and staff access to counseling and other support services.”

Baldwin earned his bachelor, MBA and PhD degrees at Michigan State University.

Patrick Beane spent three decades as a journalist at The Herald-Times in Bloomington before joining the staff at WFIU/WTIU News. He began his career at the newspaper after graduating from Indiana University in 1987 and was the sports editor from 2010-2020. His duties at the paper included writing, copy editing, page design and managing the sports department.
